People have been collecting hallmark ornaments ever since the company first started offering them as annual collectible ornaments over twenty-five years ago.  Hallmark ornaments are usually characterized by their cute, traditional designs.  Some years hallmark ornaments also crosses brands with major companies such as Disney to create collectibles that feature a favorite cartoon.

One of the reasons that hallmark ornaments appear to be so popular with the general public is that many of them are designed so that they can be displayed year round.  This is particularly true of their annual collectible ornaments that are sold as snow globes or as tiny freestanding statues.  Often the themes of these are generic enough so that they don't scream "It's Christmas' while sitting on a mantelpiece in the summer.

Of course hallmark ornaments are not the ony retailer on the block when it comes to offering annual collectible ornaments.  Almost every major china and glass company also offers seasonal treasures.  This includes Lenox, Wallace and the prestigious crystal company Swarovski.  However these types of annual ornaments are not as inexpensive as hallmark ornaments which does about $8.00 on average for a free standing globe or statuette.
