When it comes to toy christmas trains, there are not that many options to choose from This is because the christmas tree industry is a somewhat limited one with only just a couple of companies manufacturing the high quality christmas tree trains. The two most nostalgic looking brands are the Lionel toy christmas trains and the Department 56 christmas tree trains. Both manufacturers specialize in putting out the purely traditional toy train as it has been for decades, complete with brass rail tracks, a bright red engine and accessories such as snow covered train stations and Christmas Trees.

The Disney train sets are also a little nostalgic as the retro ones featuring Minnie and Mickey Mouse as characters harken all the way back to The Great Depression when they were sold for a dollar. You can buy cars and full train sets based on such Disney cartoons as Dumbo, Toy Story and 101 Dalmatians.
